Caregiver involvement

Caregiver involvement is an important part of a quality school-based program. There are many ways that parents can become involved:

  • Share any skills or hobbies that you have with the children at Jabiru Kids. For example, you may be able to share your passion for knitting, model making, painting, craft, cooking, or sport, just to name a few. Please talk to your Program Site Manager if you would like to be involved in the program in this way.
  • Develop and maintain an open and friendly relationship with our staff. We like to talk to you about your children and your family. But please remember that we will not always have time to talk, as our most important responsibility is to provide care for all of the children attending the program.
  • Respond thoughtfully to any request from us for your pareopinion or feedback.
  • Stay well informed about how your child feels about Jabiru Kids. If relevant, let us know what your child is thinking or feeling.
  • Thank and praise our staff for good work.
  • Provide patient, private, constructive criticism when our work doesn’t meet your expectations or needs.
  • Contact us at any time if you have any concerns or issues that you would like to discuss.

It is your right as a caregiver, under the conditions of our Licence, to ask for a general description of the activities and experiences given by us, information about our philosophy relating to learning and child development outcomes and how these outcomes are achieved, and the goals about knowledge and skills to be developed through our activities.

Some of this information can be found in the Parent Handbook. For additional information, ask to see copies of the current and past programs at the service, talk to the Program Site Manager, or contact the Children’s Services Manager (Operations) or the Director of Jabiru on 3269 0044.

Notices stating current information about groups and staffing are displayed at each Jabiru Kids site, for caregivers’ information. It is a requirement under the Child Care Regulation 2003 that we inform caregivers of the name, position, and qualifications of each staff member involved in your child’s program. This information is available at your Jabiru Kids location.
