Jabiru Communities for Kids is supported by the involvement of our partner organisations, who each bring their unique gifts to our outside school hours communities. Some of our partners are listed here.
The Beats Bus
We are thrilled to have met Brendan, Greta, and Shea from the Beats Bus. Together we have designed and developed Jabiru’s own Beats Bus music fun learning program. Each Jabiru Kids program has a staff person trained as a Beats Bus Conductor, a kit-bag of fun musical instruments, and a program of activities designed by Brendan (who is a qualified Primary Teacher). Bus Driver Brendan and his team visit regularly, to add to the fun and provide our staff with ongoing support and training.

Australian Eco-Generations
The first time we met Allison from Australian Eco-Generations, we knew that we wanted to bring her love of fun and the environment to our programs. Now she is a regular part of all our holiday programs, and we are excited that recycling, take-home worm-farms, terrariums, and other eco-fun learning activities are now a regular part of what we do.

Let’s Party Big
Anthea and Effie are two vibrant young Mums who had the great business idea of bringing a range of amazing ‘big games’ to Brisbane. Our games library now includes Big Chess, Big Snakes and Ladders, Giant Jenga, Team Walkers, Giant Soccer, a Ten-Pin Bowling Alley, Parachute, Run Mat, Big Connect-4, and Big Battleships and Cruisers. No single site could afford or store all of these, so we share them around….that’s how communities work!

Wellwishers
Jabiru has funded the Australian group Wellwishers to hand-dig a well in a village in Ethiopia. We’re very conscious that, while each Jabiru Kids program has its own chilled and filtered fresh water cooler, in a village in Ethiopian Tigray children the same age as the children in our programs walk many kilometres every day over rough terrain to collect water. These children don’t have time to go to school. They feel tired and sick all the time. The hand-dug well funded by Jabiru now provides fresh water for around 1,000 people, which they can also share with other villages close by. Our Communities for Kids are also helping to take care of children in other communities. Look for the display near your local Jabiru Kids’ water cooler.

Training Wheels
From the world’s most creative developer of group and team play games and activities, Training Wheels in Colorado USA, Jabiru is proud to be first in Australia to import Team Play kits for each of our programs, commencing in Term 3, 2009. Each kit is packed with crazy, fun, exciting, and challenging games that help us to learn skills about cooperating, sharing, working, and planning together, and help us to get to know each other better.

Lighthouse Strengths Resources
Jabiru’s Communities for Kids programs – before and after school, and during school holidays – start with the basic idea that every single person is precious and gifted in their own way. Lighthouse Resources – based in Brisbane as a part of Kyabra Community Association – has for the past two years provided us with wonderful resources and training programs that use a ’strengths’ approach. www.lighthouseresources.com.au
