Our philosophy statement
This philosophy statement provides the foundation for all Jabiru Kids’ activities, policies, and procedures. If there is any uncertainty about one of our policies or procedures, we return to these principles to help resolve the issue.
These principles underpin our Jabiru Kids school-aged program:
- We provide programs in a way that:
- Protects the child from harm
- Respects the child’s dignity and privacy
- Promotes the child’s wellbeing
- Provides positive experiences for/with the child
- Children’s physical, emotional, and social needs will be met in a safe, caring, and supportive environment
- The best interests of the child are our paramount concern
- We provide meaningful programs, which incorporate elements of play with elements of daily real-life experiences
- We recognise freedom of choice in experiences, balanced with age-appropriate programming and opportunity for support of child-initiated planning
- Children, parents, staff, and relevant community members are treated with respect and their views in relation to the proper operation of Jabiru Kids sites are considered and valued
- We recognise and respect parents as primarily responsible for the upbringing, protection, and development of their children, and we aim to support parents in that role, to the greatest extent possible
- We encourage and welcome open discussion with us on all issues relevant to the operation of Jabiru Kids.
