In addition to formal activities each day to meet safety and legal standards such as calling the roll, and sign-in or sign-out procedures the program for every day is designed to meet our content objectives. The programs may:

  • Include a special theme or focus
  • Encourage and extend children’s existing interests
  • Encourage children to select and plan activities
  • Provide a wide range of activities to suit the interests, needs, and ages of the children enrolled.

We also focus on:

  • Constant attention to the safety and well-being of the children
  • Our mission, values, and philosophy
  • Children learning through free play and incorporating positive healthy attitudes about play into their lives
  • Building the child’s confidence in, and capacity for, participating in a diverse outside school hours community through (for example): sharing in work and play, group planning, decision-making, team participation, opportunities for leadership, forming friendships, and dealing with conflict
  • Learning the value of daily rituals which allow us to express feelings and opinions, overcome anxieties, celebrate success, understand rules, give feedback, and initiate relationships
  • Activities which contribute to children’s strengths-based understanding of themselves, their family, their peers and their community
  • Active and healthy diet and lifestyle
  • An inquisitive attitude to knowledge and understanding
  • Developing children’s creativity
  • A positive attitude towards homework and school
  • Use of quiet space and time
  • Learning and practising life skills in a safe, supportive, but not formally evaluated environment
  • A positive pro-active attitude to the environment and the local community.
